You can have BankID even if you have a protected identity. When you first acquire BankID you will need to follow a special routine for those with a protected identity. The routines at different banks vary, so we recommend that you contact your bank to get the right help.

The least amount of data possible
When you use BankID to identify yourself or to sign at a company or an authority, only the data found on your BankID is submitted, which is your name and your Swedish personal identity number. Information, such as your address, e-mail address or telephone number are not stored in BankID. The fact that you have a protected identity cannot be seen.

Renew your BankID remotely before it expires
When you have a BankID, you can easily renew it remotely as long as you do it before the period of validity expires. If the period of validity expires, then you will need to obtain a new BankID the same way as you did the first time. You can see the period of validity under Settings in the BankID app.
