Support for static QR ends
2025-04-09
In the end of April, support for static QR code in version 6 of our RP-API ends. Make sure your organisation is prepared.

The change to animated QR codes is a part of our continuous security work and is something we've recommended for many years. To protect users and companies alike from being exposed to fraud, we remove the possibility to use static QR codes with version 6 of our RP-API.
We've waited a long time to remove the support as we understand and respect that companies, authorities and other organisations may need time to update their systems and services.
Security always in focus
In our more and more troubled world, it's necessary that the entire society comes together to increase security and safety. To us, this means to keep introducing new and more secure solutions as well as removing older ones.
Make sure your organisation is ready
Ensure that you use an animated QR code in all flows for BankID in your services. Your developer can help you with the changes.

Older API versions to be closed
This time we remove the possibility to use static QR code for version 6 of our RP-API, the version everyone should now be using in alignment with secure start. The older versions of the API, 5.0 and 5.1, will be closed fully. Date for closing will be communicated later on.
Make your accessibility adjustments too
This summer, new legislation come into force regarding accessibility in digital services. This will, among other things, affect the QR code for BankID in your services. It can be a good idea to make these changes at the same time.
