The support for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 will end soon

In March 2022, BankID on file and card will stop working in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. We therefore recommend you to update Windows well in advance. We hope you understand that security is, and must be, our foremost guiding light. Read more at https://support.bankid.com (in Swedish).

BankID has informed about this for almost two years when Microsoft already at the beginning of last year stopped sending out security updates for Windows 7. We have now reached a point where the security requirements simply exceed what Windows 7 can offer. Our policy is to stop supporting operating systems when they no longer receive security updates from the vendor. Our system requirement is Windows 8.1 and higher. A recommendation if you still want to keep your Windows 7 computer is to activate a Mobile BankID. You can then continue browsing the computer as usual, and use your phone when you need to identify yourself or sign with BankID.
