Qliro's conversion increased by 10 percent

Qliro works in a data-driven and customer-oriented way to create products that help customers increase their revenue and transaction volumes. At the end of last summer, Qliro launched a new check-out where they chose to implement BankID in several steps. The new solution showed positive results from day one.
- When we launched our new check-out, we could see that the conversion increased by 10 percent and BankID was a major contributing factor to that figure, says Evelin Kaup, Chief Product Officer at Qliro.
Increased conversion in sight
To increase conversion, Qliro started looking into how they could optimize their check-out. In addition to data-driven analysis and A/B testing, both customer interviews and surveys were conducted to find out how customers reasoned when making a purchase.
- In almost every interview, BankID was mentioned as a positive contributing factor to wanting to make a purchase. The BankID brand is strongly associated with security and it was clear that it would help the customer feel more secure with their purchase, says Evelin.
Feeling of safety is important
The results of the interviews showed that security played a major role. Consumers wanted to recognize either the merchant or the payment service to feel safe enough to make their purchases.
- For customers to feel safe with their payments, they want to feel confident that they will receive the goods they have purchased. BankID provides that security and customers are more comfortable making the purchase. This has also been reflected in the results. After we added BankID to our check-out, conversion increased significantly," says Evelin.

The benefit of doing the opposite
In product development, you generally strive to minimize the number of steps the customer needs to complete and thus increase conversion. But in Qliro's case, it was the exact opposite that gave results. Adding BankID as an additional step in the purchase process proved to be one of the keys to the success of their new check-out.
- In addition to the safe and secure feeling associated to the brand, BankID is also a natural part of most Swedes' everyday lives. It's quick and easy, and there's no need to guide customers through this step," says Evelin.
BankID provides better customer knowledge
Qliro uses BankID in several places, including signing when purchasing and as identification to access Qliro's services. With BankID, Qliro can link the same person to multiple purchases and optimize the customer experience based on behavior and previous purchases. They also avoid the problem of the same person accidentally creating multiple customer accounts.
BankID has also been important for credit purchases. This is where reliable identification of the customer is needed, and it's also something consumers expect companies to do to protect their customers. Most customers don't want to share their personal information with companies, they would rather use their BankID to identify themselves.
