Service status:

Your bank need your consent in order for you to enable and use additional verification with facial recognition. The purpose of additional verification with facial recognition is to prevent unauthorised use of your BankID. Additional verification with facial recognition involves biometric processing of your personal data and consists of a real-time match of a recently taken comparison image of you with an original photo from your ID document. The feature therefore involves personal data processing that requires your consent.

By enabling additional verification with facial recognition, you will be able to obtain a new BankID more easily and avoid electronic scanning of ID documents as an alternative verification measure. In the future, you can also use additional verification with facial recognition as an extra security measure when signing and identifying yourself using your BankID.

If you already have a digital ID card in the BankID app, we will obtain the original photo from your digital ID card for processing during additional verification with facial recognition. Otherwise, we will use the original photo from the passport or national ID card you choose to scan.

Your consent and use of additional verification with facial recognition is voluntary and as an alternative, you always have the option to obtain and use BankID in the same way you did before. More information about how to do this is available on your bank's website.

Personal data

For additional verification with facial recognition, we process the following personal data.

  • First name, last name and personal identity number,

  • Information about the ID document (type of ID document: Swedish passport or national ID card) and the MRZ code, where applicable,

  • That the ID document is valid at the time of identification,

  • Original photo, i.e. photo that originally appears on your passport or national ID card,

  • Comparison photo (i.e. recently taken photo of you), and

  • The result of the facial recognition between the two images.

Withdrawing consent

You can withdraw your consent at any time by disabling additional verification with facial recognition under settings in the BankID app. If you withdraw your consent for additional verification with facial recognition, you will still have your digital ID card in the BankID app.

Consent validity period

The consent is valid for as long as your BankID is valid and for future measures for additional verification with facial recognition.

When the validity period of your previous ID document has expired, to continue using additional verification with facial recognition, we will ask you to update your original photo by scanning a new ID document.

More information

More detailed information about how your personal data is processed is available in the bank's information on personal data processing and in our privacy policy.

To use additional verification with facial recognition you need to give consent to your bank collecting and using my personal data in the manner described above. This is done in the BankID app.
